Additional add-on ideas:
Discover waterfalls and walking tracks both beach side and forest side. The Otway Ranges and Great Ocean Road offer unique Australian flora and fauna close to your accommodation.
Take time to wander, there are surprises around most corners.
Optional tour – kayak Lake Elizabeth in search of one of the world’s most unique creatures, the platypus.
This region offers the visitor an array of ideas. From local brewery visit, olive oil tasting and many hiking trails throughout the national park. These walks / hikes range in difficultly and distance, from short scenic to multi day options. Please discuss with Bev in more detail as you may require further nights accommodation to maximise your enjoyment whilst on your holiday.
My choice would be to add on a tour with the local indigenous guides, offering a Creations Tour or a Six Season Tour. Then I would recommend visiting, with a local guide, one of the five rock shelters that are open for public viewing in the park. Brambuk NPCC is a perfect starting point for all things within the park, including up to date weather and hazard conditions.
The Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld offers spacious, contemporary rooms surrounded by lush native bushland. This property is award winning for both accommodation and dining. You can visit the kitchen gardens and wine cellar.
MT STURGEON COTTAGES: Mt Sturgeon Bluestone Cottages have been converted from the station’s shearers and cooks quarters into accommodation overlooking the mountain range, 3 kilometers away from the main hotel site. The secluded cottages provide a cosy sanctuary, ideal for a romantic getaway in regional Victoria. Without phones or televisions, the cottages allow guests to unwind and reconnect. Pets are welcome with advance notice and fees apply. Some cottages have accessible features.
The master bedroom features a king bed and the second bedroom has a King bed (can be split into 2 singles). Once home to the stations shearers and cooks, these cottages have been fully restored and decorated to provide comfort and relaxation in a tranquil rural setting with stunning views of Wurgarri (Mount Sturgeon) and the surrounding grounds, providing the ultimate escape!
Please note the cottage does not have a television, telephone and only very limited mobile reception. A breakfast voucher will be supplied for a local cafe in town or a hamper.
