Curious Melbournians have already discovered Curious, the cocktail bar. Enter from the Hotel Lobby or, if you’re curious enough, you’ll find yourself entering through the Clock shop (if you can find it) and winding your way downstairs. Lollo is for lunch, dinner and beyond. There’s a space for every mood and occasion here with a variety of seats and tables in various zones. Book a table with a view of the open kitchen to watch the magic happening. Open Tuesday to Saturday, book Lollo here
W Mixbar – Then again you may prefer to not leave your room. Every room has a W Mixbar, stocked with the best local ingredients to mix your own cocktails.
There’re more good things happening at the W too. Culprit is W’s Cafe and Wine bar, with an all day dine in and takeaway menu, opening soon. When it opens in May, Warabi will be W’s fine dining Japanese restaurant with seating for just 30 people and a private dining room for 10.
The indoor pool and gym are on Level 14. With floor to ceiling windows, space for relaxing around the pool, and a cocktail bar you could stay all day. It was a cloudy Melbourne day when I visited but the light reflecting on the shimmering gold ceiling panels created a sunny day on the inside.
W are known for their larger than average rooms. A sign of it’s popularity, only 2 of the 10 room types were available for viewing when I visited. I love the ‘Marvelous Suites’, light filled corner suites. With a separate lounge area, there’s space to relax, soak in the great views, while enjoying the spoils of your W Mixbar. The custom made, W branded socks are another quirky twist that maybe you didn’t know you needed.
