In 2020, I was approached by Travel Gateway, a website dedicated to promoting tourism in the Northern Territory (NT) and beyond. At its core, Travel Gateway’s mission is to inspire both Australians and international travellers to explore the wonders of this remarkable region. Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Travel Gateway to refine and enhance the services we offer. What began as a simple platform has now evolved into a comprehensive travel hub, showcasing three unique experiences that cater to a diverse range of travellers, from thrill-seekers to those looking for quiet, immersive encounters with nature.

Exclusive Packages
Our Exclusive Packages are at the heart of what makes Travel Gateway special. These packages have been designed to help locals, domestic travellers, and international visitors alike discover the NT in a way that feels both inclusive and unique, with options for every budget. We offer a variety of experiences, from multi-day fishing adventures that take you into some of the most pristine waters of the Top End to relaxing staycations where you can unwind in luxury accommodations amidst spectacular landscapes.

The Exclusive Packages offer unbeatable value, featuring carefully curated deals that can’t be found elsewhere. However, we also have some packages to the Kimberley’s and Timor-Leste. So while you can explore your own back yard, you can also visit two other destinations that are within a couple hours of Darwin.

One of the new services we’re most excited about at Travel Gateway is Ask Amy—a personalised, curated NT holiday planning service. We’re thrilled to have Amy Hetherington, a Darwin-based comedian with a growing global presence, as the face of this initiative. Amy’s infectious enthusiasm and deep love for the NT make her the perfect ambassador. Ask Amy is not just about creating a holiday; it’s about crafting an experience that’s tailor-made for each individual traveller.

Here’s how it works: Amy guides travellers through a series of questions designed to uncover their travel preferences, whether they’re adventure junkies, wildlife enthusiasts, or in need of a peaceful retreat. Once we have this information, our local travel specialist, Lisa Malnar, steps in to create a bespoke itinerary. Lisa draws on her extensive knowledge of the NT to tailor the perfect holiday, whether it’s for solo travellers, couples, families or groups. The personal touch in Ask Amy ensures that every itinerary is a unique reflection of what the traveller wants, making the trip far more than just a getaway; it becomes a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Local Events
In addition to our Exclusive Packages, we’ve recently launched another service—Local Events. These curated experiences are available on specific dates, and exclusive to Travel Gateway. Whether you’re a local looking to experience more of what the NT has to offer, or a visitor eager to dive deeper into the region’s culture, Local Events provide an immersive way to connect with the Northern Territory’s beauty and spirit.

These events range from intimate bird-watching tours led by local experts to hands-on workshops where participants can learn to create native cocktails using traditional ingredients.
