How does a Food Science graduate become a Personal Travel Manager? The answer to this question is my journey from uninspired science graduate to passionate Personal Travel Manager.
Whilst friends were getting serious about their careers, I was having amazing adventures in Africa. Coming back into the real world – I came to the realisation that what I did in my work life had to reflect my greatest passions and that was travel, in particular travel to exotic and adventurous destinations.
My passions are wildlife, local people, food and cultures and I really love my photography. I have been so fortunate to travel to 6 out of the 7 continents. I have travelled overland in Africa and camped through 21 countries but have also had the opportunity to experience 5 star Africa. I have trekked the Inca Trail in Peru, the Annapurna’s in Nepal, to the top of Mount Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, on remote sections of the Great Wall of China and to the hill tribes of Thailand. I have cruised the islands of the Galapagos and crossed the Drake Passage to reach the Antarctic Peninsula. I have visited islands rarely visited such as Australia’ s Macquarie Island, the Campbell and Auckland Islands which receive fewer than 500 visitors a year!
I found my feet in the Travel industry working as a consultant for major retail travel agency back in 1999 before joining the Australian, small group, wholesale tour operator World Expeditions. Working for World Expeditions opened up the world of adventure to me and I learned about destinations that I had never heard of before…places like Uzbekistan!
I spent the last 6 years with the Adventure Travel Company where I was able to work autonomously – working closely with clients on tailor made itineraries all over the world and looking after private group adventures to places such as Antarctica, East Africa, Fiji, the Kokoda track as well as wildlife tours to Indonesian Borneo where people were able to interact with Orang-utans in the wild.
Starting my own mobile consulting business through TravelManagers has allowed me to dedicate myself fully to the needs of my clients and I offer you my personal and professional service in a world that is becoming increasingly impersonal.
During my consultation process with you, whether on the phone or in person, I want to know who you are and what you want from your next holiday or adventure, whether it is the trip of a lifetime or a short break to recharge the batteries.
I want to share my knowledge with you and put together exciting itineraries using my tried and trusted travel suppliers and partners. I want your experience to be seamless and faultless and I want to make your travel dreams a reality.
The World is there to be explored – I look forward to helping you explore it!
