I love everything there is to love about travel – seeing new places, meeting new people, trying new foods, learning new languages – the list is almost endless! After working in a major retail travel agency for 12 years, I decided I wanted the time and flexibility to spend enough time with people to design their perfect holiday – without the pressure of people waiting to be served and phones ringing. As a Personal Travel Manager, I can give a whole afternoon to one person if need be to organise their trip away. We can run through options together in the comfort of your home, office or favourite coffee shop. We can talk during normal business hours or outside those hours. We can plan your trip in person, on the phone, via email or even via skype. Travel is not about how many people you can book on a plane in one day, it’s about the little things – having someone holding a sign with your name on it at the airport to take you into your hotel; having your currency exchange sorted out; help with insurance claims and having the knowledge to point you in the right direction for some of the world’s best hidden secrets! Apart from my family, travel is my number one passion and from the most experienced traveller to the first timer, nothing makes me happier than seeing people’s travel dreams coming true.
I am lucky enough to have been to 46 countries which is by no means the end of my list! When people ask me about my favourite places in the world to go to, the order often changes. Peru is always in my top 3. The majesty of the sun rising over Machu Picchu is literally breathtaking. I was lucky enough to be in Cusco for their Inti Raymi festival and the colours and vibrancy of life were amazing. Botswana is always near the top of my list too. Obviously the natural beauty and animal life are amazing in Botswana but what really struck me were the people. I met a guy who sat at a gate of a game park for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and got paid the equivalent of $60 per week. He was so proud because with that money he had put his children and nephews through school and bought their first TV. It really is the simple things. Canada rounds out my top three favourite countries. The Rockies are truly awe inspiring. It’s one of the few places in the world that can’t be compared with anything. Winding through the mountains on the Rocky Mountaineer, stopping at little towns and seeing the traditional Mounties in their uniform and again, the wildlife is nothing short of spectacular. My one last place is my island home – Tasmania. I love coming home to my family, my little patch of the world. There really is nothing quite like all aspects of travel – it’s superb!
Going on a holiday is fun, it shouldn’t have to start with the stress of trying to squeeze in the planning to your lunch break! I’m more than happy to come and see you when it is convenient for you, when you can have all of the travellers in one place and you are relaxed and comfortable. I can book you anything you need but on top of that and as part of my service I can help you with the other little questions like good places to have a special dinner, power adaptors, currency problems and insurance claims. I am available 24/7 to all of my clients and I am only a phone call, email or text away. I will hand deliver your tickets (if you’re within driving distance!), have copies for family that aren’t travelling and be here for any questions, no matter how small they are. The way we organise your holiday is up to you. You can leave it with me to design something fabulous or you can be involved every step of the way. At the end of the day, all you need to worry about is not forgetting your passport and I will take care of the rest!
I am personally and practically experienced in travelling with people with special needs, children in particular. I have recently been accredited as a certified autism travel professional, but moreso, I have been travelling with my children from the age of 6 weeks who are both on the spectrum. I understand the challenges and genuinely believe that travel can be just as amazing and enriching for neuro divergent people as much as neuro typical beings, and I will take care of the things in the background that you probably won’t even think about like having cruise ship cabins in a quieter part of the ship, booking hotel room types that allow space for some quiet time and plane seats away from the toilets where noise and congestion happens. I am so passionate about enabling some amazing trips and will go to great lengths in terms of explaining the processes, writing your little one a social story if the situation calls for it and being available for tweaks that have to happen once travel has commenced. Autism can be hard, but seeing the amazement in their eyes first hand when they see something in another country that blows them away makes it all worth it.
