I’m a glass half full kind of person. I truly believe that in a few months the coronavirus drama will be behind us and something else will have replaced it.
My intention is not to make light of this, but we should not allow ourselves to get caught up in media hype either. We can live in fear or we can travel through it. Which will you choose? And yes, it is a choice.
Media hype should be taken with a grain of salt. It is important to be informed, but don’t fall victim to the news media’s thirst for ratings.
Last year’s coverage of Australia’s fires showed a continent in flames. In actual fact, only 3% of the entire continent experienced fires and most regions were where tourists don’t primarily visit. This resulted in discouraging tourism and devastating small, local businesses throughout Australia.
Aside from the obvious measures of physical safety, below are three suggestions to keep your future travel journeys on track!
1. Choose less affected areas
Rearrange your travels and choose the one that makes you feel the most comfortable for 2020/21. Why not explore closer to home?
2. Scale down your Travel
Consider staying away from super-sized ships, and resorts catering to the masses. Instead take a small group journey to a destination that is not trending. Stay in boutique accommodation and cruise on small ship or river cruises. For less crowds, travel in off-season.
Go ahead and book your next Holiday. Ask me to book you on a trip where your deposit is refundable and to monitor those cancellation deadlines. As a travel professional who receives daily updates on situations worldwide, so it’s wise to have someone with experience by your side.
3. Take out Comprehensive Travel Insurance
Buy cancel for any reason insurance, at the time you deposit your trip, ask me for more details. If you think travel insurance is expensive, think again!
