Maryborough is a beautiful town, a hidden gem with roots dating back to the Goldrush Era…and it shows. Its buildings are stunning! Along with enjoying its beautiful architecture, there is plenty to do…and eat!

This winery was an easy drive away from Maryborough and was an unexpected discovery. I highly recommend visiting it! Visits are by appointment, and Ben and Jane are fabulous hosts who are passionate about their product and the use of local produce. They take the time to show you around their wine-making and distillery setup, and offer tastings and delicious lunches. I highly recommend Jane’s grazing platter, which was brimming with home-made goodies. Those sausage rolls…mmm! Their wines and gins are really good, and you will want to stock up on supplies before you leave.

If you are looking for a delicious lunch, friendly service and a unique setting then a visit to the Railway Café in Maryborough is a must. It is located in the historic railway station with seating both in the old waiting room and on the platform, and has a great atmosphere having been sensitively restored and decorated. This is one popular place, so booking ahead is recommended.
While you are there, have a good look around the railway station…it is beautiful.

We loved this place so much that we might have visited more than once. The décor is beautiful; a modern and yet historical setting which I loved. Their coffees and cakes were great, dinner was excellent, and everything was served with great country hospitality.
There is a lovely track around the lake, which we walked and rode our bikes around several times. Sit and watch the ducks, enjoy the scenery or go fishing.
How many country towns can boast a grandstand like this one? It is amazing! In fact the whole area is beautiful, even the public toilets look impressive.
This was the perfect spot to sit and read a good book on a warm afternoon.
There are many parks and tracks to go walking or riding on. We also loved exploring the town on our bikes. It’s a great way to see the area.
Located at the edge of the Bristol Hill Reserve, this tower offers amazing views of the town and beyond.
There is so much more to see and do in the area, but of course some time simply relaxing is crucial too! I would recommend a getaway to Maryborough, it’s a lovely area.
