✨ Heaven On Earth – My Dream Holiday Experience 🌌

One of the biggest perks of being a travel agent are the incredible holidays I get to experience. Out of all my adventures, one trip stands out as my absolute favourite – our February 2019 holiday to Finland. It was a journey filled with wonder, magic, and life changing moments.

We began our adventure by spending a week in a glass igloo, nestled in the heart of the Finnish wilderness. Each night, we lay in bed with our eyes glued to the skies, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive Aurora Borealis. The anticipation and excitement of potentially witnessing this supernatural wonder made each night feel like a magical waiting game.

On the last night of our stay, our guide imparted his local wisdom with us. He told us that if we drove another three hours north, to the Russian border, the conditions would be just right to see the Northern Lights. Despite the biting cold and the long drive ahead, we decided to take the chance.

The journey was an adventure in itself! As we approached our destination, the anticipation and excitement grew. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we arrived. We stepped out of the car and looked up.

There it was – the Aurora Borealis in all its celestial glory. The sky was ablaze with vibrant colours that filled the sky, creating an ethereal spectacle that was beyond anything I had ever imagined. In that moment, all our worries melted away. The world around us seemed to fade into nothing as we stood there, hypnotised by the indescribable beauty of the Northern Lights.

The timing of this trip made it even more significant. Covid-19 was beginning to take hold across the globe, borders were closing, and the old world as we knew it was changing rapidly. Yet, in that moment, under the spectacular display of the Aurora, none of it mattered. It was a brief escape from reality, a moment of pure magic that sustained me through the challenging times that lay ahead.

For the next two years, as I navigated the difficulties of border closures, the decimation of the travel industry, and processing countless refunds, the memory of those magical lights fuelled my passion for what I do. It reminded me of the wonders our amazing world holds and gave me hope that we would be able to experience them again soon.

That trip to Finland was more than just a holiday; it was a beacon of light in a dark time, a reminder of the beauty and resilience of our world, and an experience that will stay with me forever.
