The Ultimate Hawkesbury River Pearl Experience

The Ultimate Hawkesbury River Pearl Experience

Discover Broken Bay pearls with Wild Luxury

Wild Luxury has partnered with Broken Bay Pearl Farm to offer the Ultimate Hawkesbury River Experience.

Guests at Wild Luxury’s Calabash Bay Lodge can enjoy a 90-minute bespoke tour, taking in the majesty of Berowra Creek, a tributary just off the main Hawkesbury River. They will travel to oyster farms secreted away in the remote Marramarra National Park, only accessible by boat and witness the beauty of Akoya oysters via a live pearl harvest.

Guests can also select a premium half-day tour version from Calabash Bay Lodge, which includes a visit to Broken Bay Oyster Farm’s ‘Shellar Door’, where, after a riverside grazing lunch of oysters, charcuterie and sparkling wine, you will learn all about the grading of pearls. You may even have the chance to handle a pearl valued at $250,000 and perhaps find your own pearl treasure to adorn.

Upon your return to Calabash Bay, witness a sublime golden hour on the sandstone escarpments surrounding the bay whilst a private chef will prepare a three-course dinner, an unrivalled private restaurant experience you won’t find anywhere else in Australia.

Ultimate Hawkesbury Pearler’s Package

A group of up to eight guests can enjoy:

  • A private tour of Broken Bay Pearl Farm’s local oyster leases in Berowra Creek and a private ‘Shellar Door’ experience
  • One private chef three-course dinner

  • Exclusive use of the Lodge’s guest boat for exploring the river and water toys such as kayaks and paddleboards

About Broken Bay Pearl Farm’s pearls

Broken Bay Pearl Farm produces world-class pearls that are true treasures. Over 1,000 times rarer than diamonds, Akoya pearls take five years to grow to maturity before being harvested for jewellery. They also play an important role in the regeneration and restoration of this incredible natural environment. In a truly sustainable circular economy, the Akoya pearl meat is then sold to Sydney and Central Coast high-end restaurants, including executive chef Brian Geraghty at the local two-hatted Berowra Waters Inn. It’s a rare seafood delicacy, akin to eating sweet crab meat or lobster, but on a truly unique scale of its own.

Calabash Bay Lodge, the National Park hideaway

Surrounded by three national parks, Calabash Bay Lodge is immersed in nature and accessible exclusively by boat or seaplane. With four bedrooms across three luxurious levels, there is ample space to relax and recharge. Situated conveniently on the Hawkesbury River, guests can explore their surroundings by trying stand-up paddle boarding or kayaking. Alternatively, find peace by taking a yoga lesson on the rooftop wellness studio, relax with a massage from the on-site masseuse or book the in-house private chef.
